Just found this site. Brings back alot of memories. My bands use to play there all the time. (drummer) Entropy and also Don't Know. Use to go around to the parking lot next to the bowling alley (not there anymore) and hang out by the spray paint wall. Thanks for posting those flyers. I remember alot of those gigs. I have an old pic of me playing downstairs...I'll see if I can figure out how to post it.

hursday December 9 2004
American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. A night of films by David
Markey. 7:30 pm world premier of "(This Is Known As) The Blues Scale" with Sonic Youth &
Nirvana. A new film comprised of never before seen footage from "1991 The Year Punk
Broke". Followed by a Q&A w/ director Dave Markey, and then "Desperate Teenage
Lovedolls" at 8:30 pm and the world premier of "Lovedolls Superstar Fully Realized" at 9:30
pm

Thursday, December 9 – 7:30 PM

A Tribute to Legendary L.A. Punk Filmmaker, David Markey

World Premiere!! (THIS IS KNOWN AS) THE BLUES SCALE, 2004, We Got Power Films, 40
min. David Markey, director of 1991: THE YEAR PUNK BROKE, presents a film of rare,
never-before-seen outtakes from that groundbreaking chronicle of the fabled Sonic
Youth/Nirvana tour. A cinematic postscript that is just as entertaining and stimulating as
its movie parent, with Sonic Youth singer/guitarist and all-round-rabble- rouser Thurston
Moore proving a devilishly funny ringmaster to the circus of backstage antics. Featuring
more performance footage of Sonic Youth and Nirvana as well as pungent commentary by
Moore, Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo, Dave Grohl, et. al.

DESPERATE TEENAGE LOVEDOLLS, 1984, We Got Power Films, 50 min. Following
somewhere on the trail blazed by John Waters and George Kuchar, director David Markey
conjures an endearing homage to Russ Meyer's BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS with
this story of three teenage runaways (Hilary Rubens, Jennifer Schwartz and Janet Housden)
who form "the hottest all-girl band of all time"- !! But rival all-girl gang The She Devils
and their leader, Tania Hearst (Tracy Lea), have it in for our heroes, as do annoying
mothers and psych-ward doctors. A super-charged, home-made, originally-shot-on-
Super-8 tribute to rock band films, "an epic film of true teenage brattiness…"(Craig Lee,
L.A. Weekly.) Music by Red Kross, Nip Drivers, The Bags and more! "A legendary
underground classic." (Patrick Goldstein, L.A. Times.)

LOVEDOLLS SUPERSTAR - FULLY REALIZED, 2004 (orig. 1986), We Got Power Films, 82
min. David Markey revitalized his 1986 sequel to the original LOVEDOLLS film in this
newly mixed and transferred version, bringing the outrageously transgressive Lovedolls
back to life for more encounters with fanatical cults, brain-damaged followers, jealous
rivals and homicidally obsessive fans. With Janet Housden, Jennifer Schwartz, Kim
Pilkington, Tracy Lea, Steve & Jeff McDonald. With cameos by Vicki Peterson (The Bangles),
Jello Biafra (The Dead Kennedys) and Sky Saxon (The Seeds). Music by Red Kross, Sonic
Youth, Meat Puppets, The Dead Kennedys and more! "Any rock film that mixes references
to Billy Jack, Charles Manson and Jim Jones is all right with me." – Psychotronic Video
Guide. Discussion following first film with director David Markey.

Impounded MY VW and got it out, thanks to the local punks

I was working again that night "war paint" and all when someone said they are towing cars? I run and there goes my car down the street. I run after him in the tow truck until he puts my car in the parking CHAINED fence and wants money to get it out. I tell him I aint got $$, so he says it will sit. So while left and then, snuck back in because I had the keys and jumped in and started it ad they blocked me and threatened to call the cops (you remeber Hollywood cops, beat your ass and dump you in NO MANS LANE). I went back to Katha and bumed over $40.00 from other punks and got my car out. Now that was like a $1000 at a gig, but people came though.

Really miss Katha

Working for the "family" that night and working the door when someone say's "hey some girl is getting her ass kicked by some big guy in the parking lot"? Everyone goes running around the corner and here is this huge pimp kicking this girl (a working girl) in the face and stomach and she is screamming to help her. That was it everyone just jups on the guy and HE gets HIS ass kicked! She gets up all bloody screaming to STOP kicking his ass or her ass is grass.

It was pretty crazy that day!
